Cultural heritage surveys before the ground is disturbed.

Finding heritage before work starts is cheaper and easier than finding it under a dozer. We plan and deliver field surveys across your project footprint, alongside Traditional Owners, so places and objects can be avoided or managed early.
Coverage you can map and defend.
Survey transects, spacing and ground visibility are recorded so it is clear what was covered and what still needs attention.
- Pedestrian survey of the project footprint, access tracks and laydown areas
- Recording of artefacts, scarred trees, stone arrangements and other places
- Assessment of areas likely to hold buried material
- Recommendations for avoidance, protection or further investigation
A survey report ready for your file.
Reports are written to the requirements of the relevant law, plan or agreement.
- Survey coverage maps with transects and visibility
- Site recording forms, photographs and GPS locations
- Significance assessment based on Traditional Owner advice
- Management recommendations for each place
How pricing works
Quotes are itemised by day rate, travel, vehicle and equipment, and reporting. Survey days, report preparation and mapping are listed separately.
Send the site location, the work program, your preferred dates and any approval or agreement conditions. We confirm scope, availability and price before work is booked.
Working with Traditional Owners
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage belongs to the people whose Country it is. Where a cultural heritage agreement, management plan or permit names the Aboriginal party, Registered Aboriginal Party or Native Title group for the area, we work alongside their representatives and follow their direction on cultural matters. Their cultural advice, and the decisions that come from it, are theirs.
Qualifications
Each task is carried out by personnel holding the qualifications it requires in that state, such as a degree in archaeology or a recognised heritage advisor role where the law asks for one. Details are supplied with the quote or before mobilisation on request.
Frequently asked questions
Do you register sites?
Where the law requires it, we prepare the recording forms and lodge them with the state register, with the agreement of the Aboriginal party for the area.
Can you survey before the footprint is final?
Yes. Early surveys of a wider corridor help designers move infrastructure away from sensitive places before the layout is locked in.
What happens if you find something?
Each place is recorded and mapped, and we recommend how to avoid or manage it. Those recommendations are agreed with the Traditional Owners before they go into your plan.
